The garden – a peaceful retreat in the heart of Merano

Aparthotel with a Mediterranean garden and swimming pool in Merano

The garden is the centrepiece of the PINEA Garden Aparthotel Merano. Two ancient, house-high pine trees dominate the scene and give the hotel its name. At the heart of the spacious garden lies the pleasantly warm outdoor swimming pool. In between, fragrant roses and various Mediterranean plants thrive, lending the large park its unique character. A retreat such as this is a rarity in the heart of Merano.

Under the old pine trees by the pool

All around the heated outdoor pool, spacious sunbathing lawns offer peaceful spots for sunbathing. Those who prefer a shadier spot will find it beneath the towering pine trees or in one of the many sheltered corners of the garden. Nestled in the heart of the leafy Obermais district of Merano, the only sound you’ll hear here is the chirping of birds.

Mediterranean Merano

Mediterranean plants thrive in Merano, largely due to the unique microclimate in the sheltered Merano Basin. As Merano rose to prominence as a world-renowned climatic health resort from around 1850 onwards, exotic plants were specifically imported from all over the world. As a result, palm trees, cypresses and pines have become part of the townscape, giving Merano its unique character.

In the gardens of the PINEA Garden Aparthotel Merano, this Mediterranean side of the town is particularly evident. And yet the historic town centre is only about a 15-minute walk away or can be easily reached by public bus at regular intervals. The park thus combines something that is rarely found in a townhouse: plenty of greenery and tranquillity, without having to sacrifice proximity to the town.
